Call to Action: Oregon Trade and Logistics Initiative

The Oregon Trade and Logistics Initiative Engages State Agencies and Oregon Businesses to Facilitate Trade Solution.

The last several months can be marked by such impactful events as the ILWU and PMA contract negotiations and Hanjin and Hapag Lloyd leaving Portland. The logistical challenges and their associated costs have not been lost on Allports. Our import and export teams have been by your side every step of the way, sharing in the struggles and finding solutions. We are excited to share with you encouraging news from Business Oregon. Governor Kate Brown approved the Oregon Trade and Logistics Initiative in April with the intention to gather ideas from the affected Oregon businesses for solutions that will lead to specific recommendations to the 2016 Oregon Legislature. The Oregon Department of Agriculture, Oregon Department of Transportation and the Port of Portland have partnered with Business Oregon and want to hear from you! In a series of Trade Workshops held all over Oregon shippers and logistics service providers are coming together to discuss solutions to trucking challenges, unavailable container supply and increased expenses. We encourage you to attend a workshop and share your ideas. Allports will have a representative at every workshop, so you will be in good company. The remaining workshops are:

  • Ontario Oregon, August 10th, 6:30pm

  • Albany Oregon, August 11th, 6:30pm

  • Medford Oregon, August 12th, 6:30pm

Collectively the message is strong, if the logistics to get cargo to and from the Ports is too cumbersome, we all suffer. This is the opportunity the trade community has been waiting for and there remain 3 workshops the week of August 9th to be directly involved in the process. Visit the Oregon Trade Solutions.
